summer of inspiration…(or something to that effect)

Hey – pssst. I’m still here.

It’s been QUITE sometime since I’ve posted, and I’m not sure anyone is even listening anymore. But in spite of this, and off the point entirely, is the wee little fact that I have FINISHED – yes, that’s right – FINISHED my book.

Wild dancing was performed. Good champagne was sipped. A sappy smile was plastered on a certain someone’s face for days.

Of course, it needs re-writing (quite desperately, in places), but it’s done! Complete! Fini! And also, it is written. You know – all the way. To the end.

I suppose you get my drift, at this point. (Aren’t you glad I’m back? Ha ha).

It’s been a long summer of holing away in my study, and lots of uninterrupted work.  I had to lock myself away in order to complete this project. I had to be completely and utterly focused. Or the thing would not have gotten done. I’m that easily distracted, you see.

I’ll likely fill in with the details soon, but now I feel that I must get to it, while my darling daughter naps. It’s my only time, besides the wee hours of the night, to get anything done. But I wanted to share my good fortune, and to bravely break the blogging silence. I’ve missed it, no doubt.

SO, the next steps:

  • Finish re-writing (fill in some details, inject more humor into the second half, check for consistency of character, dialect, plot, etc.)
  • Write query letter for agents.
  • Send said query letters to reputable, relevant agents who are looking for new manuscripts.
  • Wait.
  • Not sure what exactly is next – I’ll find out, is the assumption.

In the meantime, the house is a shambles, the yard is sadly neglected, and the laundry thumbs its nose at me from the corner. Wheeeee!

  11. Kia ora Ophelia,
I am so happy for you! That is excellent news. May you be on the best seller list for all time! I think of you often, particularly when in the mountains and you and Robin seem to tap my shoulder and I smile. I just returned from a trip with my oldest son, we have been having some connection issues. It was one of the best experiences I could imagine. Hope all is well with your beautiful family and you are enjoying a fantastic springtime day. Kia kaha Ophelia, Rave on!
    Aroha,
    Robb

  12. Robb, Thank you! I’ve missed you so much, and look forward to catching up with you. I’ve thought about you often as well, and am glad to hear that your trip went so well. You are an incredible father for giving your son such a gift – he’ll remember it forever, the time spent on the mountain with you. They BOTH will, both of your boys, and will forever be connected to you through those mountains. How amazing! I only hope I can make such incredible memories for my children.

Love and peace to you and your family. I’m off to visit your blog, now. :)
    Aroha,
    M/O

  13. That is so inspiring and wonderful! I am so happy and relieved for you! Congratulations and I am quite happy that you are back!

  14. Yiiiiiiippppppppeeeeee!! My dearest Wild Sister, I am so so so proud of you. I am going to ask my agent if she is taking new clients. She wasn’t a few months ago but that might have changed. I can’t remember if I told you about Michael Larsen’s book: How to “Write a Book Proposal”. An agent needs a proposal to send to publishers. You would write a GREAT proposal, and this book tells you exactly what you need and why and even gives examples. My agent recommends it to all her clients. You will do a bang up job because that proposal you wrote for Robb was incredible and done overnight.

I miss you SO much and apologize for not having been here sooner. I am in the midst of signing a book contract. AND on top of that my whole week went absolutely insane. I dedicated my most recent post to you and Liv. Then I would love (when you have time a photo of you and Liv or even LIV to do a post about what you sent me. I may do a video especially for her at some point. But I thought she might like this one if for no other reason than I laugh a lot.

I loved Robb’s line above about spring. As he IS going into spring and we are going into fall. I am so blessed that you are in my life. And I LOVED you letter. I ALWAYS do. I love YOU and feel our connection all the time. You are with me and I am so proud of you for writing this book. as I know well the work involved. I KNOW it can’t be anything but breathless, as everything you write steals my breath away. EVERYTHING.

I love you my dear Wild Sister.
    So very much,
    Robin xoxoxoxoxoxoxo
